August is National Civility Month, an invitation to think about how we speak to one another, navigate difference, and choose to treat people in the ordinary moments of everyday life. That invitation feels especially timely.
July is Social Wellness Month, a reminder that our health depends on more than nutritious food or medical care. Human connection is one of our most basic needs—and for too many older adults, it has become increasingly difficult to find.
This month, Meals on Wheels Chesapeake joins the community in celebrating the birthday and remarkable life of valued board member Dr. Nancy Welch.
Pets often serve as a critical source of companionship and stability, providing a sense of purpose and routine that helps reduce loneliness and isolation, while also encouraging activity and engagement.
Volunteers are at the heart of our work. Whether delivering meals, offering safety checks, noticing when something is “off,” or supporting meal packaging and socialization programs, they help sustain a system of care that reaches hundreds of older adults across our region.
