How We Make a Difference

We Deliver Joy

You can hear it in Ada’s voice: Meals on Wheels delivers joy to seniors who were hungry and isolated before joining our community. During this time of rising senior need, donate today to improve quality of life for disabled seniors who cannot leave their homes.

HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We Deliver More Than Meals

Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake (MOWC) has provided nutritious home-delivered meals, safety checks, social connection, and care coordination for older and disabled homebound residents who live alone, cannot grocery shop or cook healthy meals, and have no assistance with meal prep.

Success Stories

Your being here to support me (I live alone) has greatly enhanced my confidence that I am not alone, and were I to need outside help, MOW staff would be there! Seriously! I do not naturally trust many folks, and I do not ask for anything. That said, you all have supported me during my time down to an extent far greater than what I signed on for…easily as healing and welcome as the food.

The volunteers are great and so cheerful. Having new faces is a blessing and the cards, candy, gifts are really nice. Thank you for working to provide seniors with food because some would go hungry without it!

Meals on Wheels has helped regulate my diet and has helped with medical conditions. I am very thankful for ALL they do! All of the volunteers are always a delight to see and talk to! I am very thankful for all the staff at Meals on Wheels. Thank you so much!

Happy September Birthdays!!!!!!!

For many local seniors, social isolation means milestones like birthdays and holidays often go completely unnoticed. That’s why our team packs every gift bag pictured here with genuine care, ensuring no neighbor feels forgotten on their special day.

Behind every knock on the door is
• a friendly smile to brighten a morning
• a warm visit
• celebration that reminds how much they matter

It takes more than a menu to nourish a community—it takes connection.
Want to help us deliver hope, joy, and a little celebration? Check the comments to learn how you can volunteer or donate today!

We are so pleased to

Across the country, 2.5 million seniors aren't getting the nutritious meals they need—and right here in Chesapeake, our neighbors feel that strain every day.

These are our parents, grandparents, and lifelong friends. While the need across our community continues to grow, federal funding simply has not kept up, leaving dedicated local programs stretched to the limit.

No senior in Chesapeake should have to wait for a warm meal and a friendly check-in.

Congress must act now to protect and increase federal funding so we can keep our delivery routes running strong.
