We Deliver More Than Meals
Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake (MOWC) has provided nutritious home-delivered meals, safety checks, social connection, and care coordination for older and disabled homebound residents who live alone, cannot grocery shop or cook healthy meals, and have no assistance with meal prep.
Success Stories
Your being here to support me (I live alone) has greatly enhanced my confidence that I am not alone, and were I to need outside help, MOW staff would be there! Seriously! I do not naturally trust many folks, and I do not ask for anything. That said, you all have supported me during my time down to an extent far greater than what I signed on for…easily as healing and welcome as the food.
The volunteers are great and so cheerful. Having new faces is a blessing and the cards, candy, gifts are really nice. Thank you for working to provide seniors with food because some would go hungry without it!
Meals on Wheels has helped regulate my diet and has helped with medical conditions. I am very thankful for ALL they do! All of the volunteers are always a delight to see and talk to! I am very thankful for all the staff at Meals on Wheels. Thank you so much!

Dr. Nancy Welch’s 50 years in public health reflect a lifetime of service, vision, and unwavering advocacy. At Meals on Wheels, her leadership and board service have helped shape programs and policies that better support older adults in our community, bringing expertise and heart to everything she does.
We are so grateful for her impact and proud to serve alongside her. 💙🩺Happy National Doctors’ Day! We are so proud of our fearless leader, Dr. Nancy Welch.
🥳This year, Dr. Welch celebrates 50 years as a public health director.
⚕️Prior to coming to the Chesapeake Health Department in 1987, Dr. Welch served director for the Allegheny Health District. She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Public Health/ Preventive Medicine, and is a Retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.

LeKay Bageley from Every Day Angels is one of those volunteers our community can always count on. When a route needs to be filled, she’s there—often stepping in at the last minute without hesitation. And on more than one occasion, she’s gone above and beyond by taking on double routes, ensuring even more neighbors receive the meals they rely on.
Her reliability, generosity, and heart for service make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many. Thank you, LeKay, for always showing up.
