In need of wholesome home-delivered meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Interested in volunteering to deliver meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Want to invest in the health and wellbeing of elderly and disabled neighbors?
Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake (MOWC) has provided nutritious home-delivered meals, safety checks, social connection, and care coordination for older and disabled homebound residents who live alone, cannot grocery shop or cook healthy meals, and have no assistance with meal prep.
Your being here to support me (I live alone) has greatly enhanced my confidence that I am not alone, and were I to need outside help, MOW staff would be there! Seriously! I do not naturally trust many folks, and I do not ask for anything. That said, you all have supported me during my time down to an extent far greater than what I signed on for…easily as healing and welcome as the food.
The volunteers are great and so cheerful. Having new faces is a blessing and the cards, candy, gifts are really nice. Thank you for working to provide seniors with food because some would go hungry without it!
Meals on Wheels has helped regulate my diet and has helped with medical conditions. I am very thankful for ALL they do! All of the volunteers are always a delight to see and talk to! I am very thankful for all the staff at Meals on Wheels. Thank you so much!
Monday through Friday, we deliver nourishment, connection, & safety checks to homebound neighbors.
Meals on Wheels runs on Amazing volunteers. Often the volunteer say that delivering the meals is a highlight in their day. As a volunteer, you perform a safety check with each meal delivery, and often provide the only regular social contact for many of our participants.

In a world where meanness can sometimes feel louder than kindness, how we choose to show up for one another matters. 💚
For National Civility Month, we're reflecting on something simple but powerful: care is a choice we can make every day.
Our latest blog, A Check to the Meanness: Civility as an Act of Care, explores why civility is about so much more than being polite—and the difference each of us can make.
