You can hear it in Ada’s voice: Meals on Wheels delivers joy to seniors who were hungry and isolated before joining our community. During this time of rising senior need, donate today to improve quality of life for disabled seniors who cannot leave their homes.

We Deliver More Than Meals
Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake (MOWC) has provided nutritious home-delivered meals, safety checks, social connection, and care coordination for older and disabled homebound residents who live alone, cannot grocery shop or cook healthy meals, and have no assistance with meal prep.
Success Stories
Your being here to support me (I live alone) has greatly enhanced my confidence that I am not alone, and were I to need outside help, MOW staff would be there! Seriously! I do not naturally trust many folks, and I do not ask for anything. That said, you all have supported me during my time down to an extent far greater than what I signed on for…easily as healing and welcome as the food.
The volunteers are great and so cheerful. Having new faces is a blessing and the cards, candy, gifts are really nice. Thank you for working to provide seniors with food because some would go hungry without it!
Meals on Wheels has helped regulate my diet and has helped with medical conditions. I am very thankful for ALL they do! All of the volunteers are always a delight to see and talk to! I am very thankful for all the staff at Meals on Wheels. Thank you so much!

What can happen when a community comes together? A whole lot of meals—and a whole lot of care. 💛
Today, as part of United Way of South Hampton Roads’ Day of Caring, 32 volunteers, 5 staff members, and 5 community partners joined forces to help Meals on Wheels Chesapeake produce, freeze, and deliver 421 meals. They were joined by an incredible team of 32 delivery volunteers, helping today’s efforts benefit 275 neighbors across South Hampton Roads.
Volunteers also delivered 142 shelf-stable emergency food boxes containing 710 additional meals, thanks to our friends at Buffalow Family & Friends Community Days. In total, Buffalow Family & Friends Community Days provided 175 boxes—each containing 5 meals and approximately 13 pounds of food—for current and new participants in Chesapeake and Norfolk to keep on hand in the event of weather-related closures this fall and winter.
Days like today remind us that some problems are simply too big for us to solve alone. We are incredibly grateful for the partners and volunteers who make this work possible:

🏥 Chesapeake Regional Healthcare for producing our meals and generously providing the office space where the magic happens every weekday.
🚗 Oak Grove United Methodist Church for showing up in an incredible way to help get meals and emergency food boxes directly into the hands of our neighbors. A huge thank you to Howie, Brenda, Gary, Gail, Bette, David, Tammy, Betty, Buck, Kathy, Garnett, Jimmy, Steve, Denise, Bob, Tina, Patty, Jim, Lynne, Alana, Arlene, Carol, Kathleen, and Danielle for spending part of their day serving our community.
🚙 We are also grateful to our additional delivery volunteers: Trina and Katie from the YMCA, Ronnie, Ron, Bob, Jeanne, Diane, and Sheila. Every route covered helped make today’s impact possible.
🍽️ Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia for helping connect older adults in Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Portsmouth with home-delivered and congregate meals.
💚 Jewish Family Service of Tidewater, Inc. for helping provide home-delivered meals to older adults in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
📦 Buffalow Family and Friends Community Days for providing 175 shelf-stable meal boxes—875 emergency meals in all—for participants in Chesapeake and Norfolk.
🍟A special thank you to Chick-fil-A Battlefield Blvd. for coming and providing a wonderful meal for all of the volunteers.
Today was community care in action: people, organizations, and resources coming together to make sure our neighbors have nutritious food, connection, and support when they need it most.
