Support Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake Today!
In need of wholesome home-delivered meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Interested in volunteering to deliver meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Want to invest in the health and wellbeing of elderly and disabled neighbors?
Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake (MOWC) has provided nutritious home-delivered meals, safety checks, social connection, and care coordination for older and disabled homebound residents who live alone, cannot grocery shop or cook healthy meals, and have no assistance with meal prep.
Your being here to support me (I live alone) has greatly enhanced my confidence that I am not alone, and were I to need outside help, MOW staff would be there! Seriously! I do not naturally trust many folks, and I do not ask for anything. That said, you all have supported me during my time down to an extent far greater than what I signed on forโฆeasily as healing and welcome as the food.
The volunteers are great and so cheerful. Having new faces is a blessing and the cards, candy, gifts are really nice. Thank you for working to provide seniors with food because some would go hungry without it!
Meals on Wheels has helped regulate my diet and has helped with medical conditions. I am very thankful for ALL they do! All of the volunteers are always a delight to see and talk to! I am very thankful for all the staff at Meals on Wheels. Thank you so much!
Monday through Friday, we deliver nourishment, connection, & safety checks to homebound neighbors.

Closing the GAP means helping our neighbors make it through the month with enough food on the table. ๐
Through the Closing the GAP: Grocery Assistance Program, Meals on Wheels Chesapeake and Buffalow Family Friends Community Days are working together to address food insecurity among low-income, socially isolated neighbors without caregiver support.
Each month, the program supports 40 participants with essential groceriesโand most report that this support helps lift them out of food insecurity and prevents them from running out of food before the end of the month.
Thatโs the power of partnership and community in action. ๐

Today, we celebrate the older adults who have spent a lifetime building families, strengthening communities, sharing wisdom, and caring for others. ๐
On National Senior Citizens Day, we're especially grateful for the neighbors we have the privilege of serving each day.
Every meal delivered is an opportunity to remind someone that they are valued, cared for, and an important part of our community.
Help us celebrate! What's one lesson, story, or piece of advice you've received from an older adult in your life? Share it below. ๐๐
