In need of wholesome home-delivered meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Interested in volunteering to deliver meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Want to invest in the health and wellbeing of elderly and disabled neighbors?
Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake (MOWC) has provided nutritious home-delivered meals, safety checks, social connection, and care coordination for older and disabled homebound residents who live alone, cannot grocery shop or cook healthy meals, and have no assistance with meal prep.
Your being here to support me (I live alone) has greatly enhanced my confidence that I am not alone, and were I to need outside help, MOW staff would be there! Seriously! I do not naturally trust many folks, and I do not ask for anything. That said, you all have supported me during my time down to an extent far greater than what I signed on for…easily as healing and welcome as the food.
The volunteers are great and so cheerful. Having new faces is a blessing and the cards, candy, gifts are really nice. Thank you for working to provide seniors with food because some would go hungry without it!
Meals on Wheels has helped regulate my diet and has helped with medical conditions. I am very thankful for ALL they do! All of the volunteers are always a delight to see and talk to! I am very thankful for all the staff at Meals on Wheels. Thank you so much!
Monday through Friday, we deliver nourishment, connection, & safety checks to homebound neighbors.
During #NationalVolunteerWeek, we’re especially grateful for the young volunteers who show up with generosity well beyond their years.
A heartfelt thank you to Girl Scout Troop 941 for donating over 200 boxes of cookies for our neighbors. 🍪
It’s more than a sweet treat—it’s a reminder that care can come in many forms, and that kindness is something you can start practicing early and carry for a lifetime.
We’re so appreciative of these girls, their families, and everyone who helped make this donation possible.

At 94, Ms. Emma is thriving at home. 💚
Not because of a single moment of change—but because of consistent care, nutritious meals, and a community that shows up for her every week.
She’s been part of the Meals on Wheels Chesapeake community for nine years. In that time, she’s received more than meals—she’s gained connection, support, and the ability to live safely and independently in her own home.
Her doctor was surprised to learn her kidney health has improved.
And every week, she’s reminded of the impact of that care:
“The volunteers are very friendly and helpful.” — Ms. Emma
This is what Meals on Wheels Chesapeake makes possible.
And during our Give Local 757 campaign, every donation is doubled, helping more neighbors like Ms. Emma receive the nutrition and connection they need to thrive at home.

🍽️ This Week’s Menu is Here!
Each meal on this menu is made possible by the volunteers who show up, pack with care, and deliver with consistency. Thank you for helping ensure our neighbors receive not just meals, but dependable support each week. 💚
This week’s Volunteer Challenge:
Bring one new volunteer along on your route or invite a friend, coworker, or family member to sign up. Expanding our volunteer community means we can reach more neighbors who rely on us.
Because the more people who show up, the more care and connection our community can experience.

Happy National Volunteer Week 💚
Meet Carrie Johnson, one of our volunteers, who recently brought in 10 handmade quilts for our neighbors. Each one reflects the time and care she puts into supporting our community.
Moments like this show what volunteering really means—it’s not just a service, it’s connection. It’s making sure our neighbors feel seen, valued, and cared for.
To Carrie and to every volunteer who gives their time and energy to this work—thank you. Your impact is felt every day.
