In need of wholesome home-delivered meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Interested in volunteering to deliver meals, safety checks, and social connection?
Want to invest in the health and wellbeing of elderly and disabled neighbors?
Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake (MOWC) has provided nutritious home-delivered meals, safety checks, social connection, and care coordination for older and disabled homebound residents who live alone, cannot grocery shop or cook healthy meals, and have no assistance with meal prep.
Your being here to support me (I live alone) has greatly enhanced my confidence that I am not alone, and were I to need outside help, MOW staff would be there! Seriously! I do not naturally trust many folks, and I do not ask for anything. That said, you all have supported me during my time down to an extent far greater than what I signed on for…easily as healing and welcome as the food.
The volunteers are great and so cheerful. Having new faces is a blessing and the cards, candy, gifts are really nice. Thank you for working to provide seniors with food because some would go hungry without it!
Meals on Wheels has helped regulate my diet and has helped with medical conditions. I am very thankful for ALL they do! All of the volunteers are always a delight to see and talk to! I am very thankful for all the staff at Meals on Wheels. Thank you so much!
Monday through Friday, we deliver nourishment, connection, & safety checks to homebound neighbors.
Meet Our Spring Intern!
We’re excited to welcome Keaton Buck to the Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake team this spring! Keaton is an ODU Public Health Administration intern who will be engaging with diverse populations and stakeholders throughout her internship.
She brings a strong passion for public health and a desire to learn and grow through hands-on experience in the community. We’re so grateful to have her join us as we continue advancing our mission together.
💬 Help us give Keaton a warm welcome! Leave a comment with a message of encouragement or advice for her internship journey.

Today, on #NationalPetDay, we’re celebrating the pets who bring comfort, companionship, and unconditional love to the seniors in our community. 🐾💚
Through our PAWS program, we ensure that the pets of our Meals on Wheels neighbors are cared for too—because for many, their pets are family.
Launched in 2022 with support from Meals on Wheels America and PetSmart, PAWS provides monthly deliveries of pet food and essential supplies like cat litter and puppy pads. In 2023, we expanded care through our partnership with Golden Paws House Calls, bringing compassionate veterinary services directly into participants’ homes.
Your support is needed:
• 65% of pets we serve live in income-limited households
• 80% haven’t seen a veterinarian in over two years
These pets are more than companions—they help reduce loneliness and bring daily joy and comfort to the people we serve.

There’s something powerful about coming together with a shared purpose. 💚
This team is working to prepare meals that do more than nourish—they show our neighbors they are seen, valued, and cared for. It takes all of us, working together, to build a stronger, more connected community.
Thank you for making this possible!
